The answer to my calling is the Rainforest Trust.They have built the most effective model I have seen to turn donations into permanent protection for carbon rich land across the world that serves as home for biodiversity hotspots and indigenous people.

Target demographics: endangered forests, wildlife, and communities around the world. Strict work hours and leave policy, but this is improving. The organization is hierarchical, rigid, and inflexible - which is shocking given how effective they are in executing their mission in the rainforests. Enormous staff turnover due to unethical business practices.

Overseas offices may helpful in reducing admin costs and outsourcing. You make great lifelong friends with your fellow minions. The toxic people at the org are not the former employees (so nice they bash their former employees on here)... it’s the management! It is not an organization that allows for employees to work off site unless that has been set up as part of your hire package. Rainforest Trust is a fantastic charity which is constantly striking the balance between being bold and creative programs, and finding a way to consistently maximise the donations of their patrons to ensure they are protecting the environment and the wildlife therein.

A new handbook with some revamped benefits has been released, the office has moved to a new location possibly devoid of ticks and snakes, and a new very liberal WFH policy has been put in place.

WLT-US is an organization that is worth supporting, letting friends about, and should be a model for any non-profit here or abroad. Staff does have to work on site, however since it sits on a fabulous campus it is not a hardship, and they offer enough benefits that when you do need to take a few hours to deal with personal issues you have them. This is without doubt the best environmental organization I have supported. Upper management is not very kind, it is often a very tense environment, sometimes you can hear the boss screaming at people, there are people that are "favorites" by upper management, a lot of weird micro-management, they are weird about who gets to work remotely (again, the "favorites"), management has poor listening skills. This really is an extremely efficient and dedicated nonprofit that gets my donation on the ground and doing what I gave for.
