Shadow of War features a much more extensive skill tree than its predecessor, with each skill containing 2 to 3 different upgrade levels. Which is to say light leveling features and some minor customization but more action game than rpg. There will be 1 to 5 Orc Captains defending the Outpost. What is your opinion? Eliminating Warchiefs that give upgrades that might cause you problems could be worth the extra time.

ROLE PLAYING GAME. Your not affecting who your character is, your not defining a role. A lot can change. So yeah poison most of the time if you want high damage, I personally like poison because it does a percentage of health I think, and fire only does a set amount I’m pretty sure, but don’t quote me on it. Taking an Outpost differs from the Outposts in the main campaign. Yes. In addition to the skills that you unlock with the story mission, each skill has additional upgrades that can be purchased with skill points as you level up. Builds do.

As with any other Fortress, there are 6 Warchiefs defending the Shindràm from attack.

Leveling, yep. The ability to make a decision that alters your characters personality and who your character is. The time required to complete these missions will guarantee that you cannot obtain anywhere near as high of a score as you could complete if you have them all out of the way before you start. Each Outpost is protected by at least one Orc Captain. This timer counter functions like the counter on Nemesis Missions. But it isn't an rpg. You do not have to choose between upgrades in this DLC. There are 5 normal Mercenaries, 5 Epic Mercenaries, and 5 Legendary Mercenaries. So stop assuming. Each piece of equipment can have up to 8 different augments, and each equipment has a base augment type that will increase the stats for that equipment. That is a method of giving the player skills over the course of the game.

A role playing game requires you to define a role for your character. Since Baranor is capable of using up to 8 augments on each piece of equipment, and augments can provide nearly any skill you've seen in the game and many skills that are new to this DLC, Baranor has the potential to become outrageously powerful if you happen to get a good set of augments. But they aren't rpg's. You want to do a run through the game to do all of the story elements of the game, and get all of the permanent upgrades. From what they have said and shown the game is looking to be an rpg in the sense that Assassin's Creed or Arkham is an rpg. GTA V as well. My setup is kinda cool.

Progress capturing these fortresses does not carry over between games. I wouldn't say that this game is a "pure RPG" though.

When you hire a mercenary to hold an outpost, you will receive a bonus from that outpost. And solo leveing is a RPG element Im sorry if you don't think so. There is also a special set of augments that are earned by completing the game with specific score requirements. However, the game is much more difficult without these abilities. It's an action game where you unlock skills by leveling, not an rpg. If you are looking for just damage sorts I recommend poison, it does the most damage over time. Talion can take the 5 outposts, assault and take Shindràm Fortress and set it up with his own Orcs, and can compete in Online Fortress Assaults and Online Vendetta Missions in the area. Additionally, defeating a Warchief before the assault will disable that Warchief's upgrade to the fortress defenses. Skyrim doesn't let you have everything you have to pick and choose, Fallout 3/New Vegas is the same way. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Is it choice? When you die, Baranor must restart at Level 1, and so you lose all of your Skill Upgrades any time you die or restart the game. Desolation of Mordor is a hybrid DLC. The choice changes the gameplay and the method of accomplishing the goal but doesn't change anything else. More powerful Mercenaries cost more money to hire.

Baranor earns the Bodyguard Skill at the end of the first story mission - which must be completed before you can do anything else in the game. Naturally, all Warchiefs are reset with a random group of Orc Captains any time you die or restart the game for any reason. It depends on your set. Like with the warmonger set use fire but terror use poison. Bodyguards are just normal Orc Captains, and they will naturally be replaced with a new random set of overworld orcs when you die or restart the game. Progress through these missions is permanent and carries over between runs. Since Baranor does not have a ring of power, if he dies, the game is over and you lose and must start over - kind of - and so the game functions as something of a roguelike experience. Note that you need to occupy all 5 of the outposts to complete the game, and the orcs will retake the outposts if you don't assign a mercenary to hold the outpost. If you die or start over, you will start with any base skills that you unlocked through the story missions, but you will have no upgrades to these skills. And decision making is also an RPG element refer to its name. Time passes when you complete a mission, or opt to move time forward while fast travelling from the map. In a run where you're attempting to get a good score you won't have time to hunt down individual bodyguards - although it might be worth your time to take them out if you happen across them during your normal traversal of the map, and sending Mercenaries after these orcs can be a good way to find and eliminate them quickly, and to increase the levels of your Mercenaries as well as gain XP rewards that may offset the time lost on your final score. There are only 15 Mercenaries in each game, so if you manage to get too many of them killed it is possible that you would be unable to complete the game due to a lack of Mercenaries available to hold the outposts. However, you receive special augments for having completed the game with specific scores. These are powerful Orc Captains who will defend the capture points when you assault the fortress. By your claim it should be an rpg. Unlike in the main game and Blade of Galadriel Expansion, you may have multiple upgrades to the same skill. Like I said in the other thread, We don't know anything past what the gameplay demo has shown. If you're trying for a scored run on the game, you probably do not want to waste time attacking Warchief's individually - although if you're playing on Gravewalker Difficulty, it might be worth it to eliminate a powerful Warchief ahead of time to make the assault easier. I got to agree with frank. It could include multiple endings, and yes there are alternate storylines seeing as how there are different ways to get to and kill the chiefs and possibly other characters we have not seen, thus alternate storylines. It has leveling, it has skill trees, it has the abiltiy to approach fights differently based on what you want to do, it has an open world, it has decision making that effects gameplay.

So stop assuming. Decision making that effects gameplay, thats there. If you do not hire a Mercenary to hold the Outpost, Orcs will move back in and take the outpost after the time counter on the outpost expires.

When you die you keep your progress in the story missions, and certain skill upgrades, but lose your non story related skills and all progress toward taking the Fortress, as well as any Equipment Upgrades and Mercenaries you had hired.
