No label, big or small, tried to own the rights of the new record(s): the figures in sales didn't justify an investment by someone. It contains 13 of the band's hits between Smash and Splinter and two previously unreleased songs: lead single "Can't Repeat" and a hidden track, "Next to You" (originally by the Police). "Come Out and Play" was the band's breakthrough single, topping the US Modern Rock Tracks chart, and it became the band's biggest hit from the album in the US, while "Self Esteem" was the biggest hit from the album outside of the US.

I too don't have any information, but yeah I get the feeling. "The album is done, it will be out late this year!"

Can't wait to hear what's on it. Funny you mention that, I made a similar post about Social Distortion the same time I made this one.

Nothing new..

Maybe this year.

out in March, or possibly 2020 if ever.

I do think the drumming got “tighter” when they started using Josh Freese in the studio after Ron. They kept saying when it would come out, and then never did. #ManicSubsidal #Demo #1984/5", http://www.offspring.com/community/showthread.php?37511-Ask-Dexter-Holland-A-Question&p=1300187#post1300187, "Check out this old demo tape I found today. Second single "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" went Gold in the US and became their third number one on Billboard Alternative Songs. They've been playing "it won't get better" for what, 2 years now?

I think that’s a good reason for them to sort of return to their roots and put out an album that will please the hardcore fans... because let’s face it they aren’t “cool” enough to get new fans anyway, like you’ve pointed out. Uncomfortable with the idea of finding an immediate replacement for Welty, The Offspring opted to have session musician Josh Freese record the drums for Splinter, and later announced that Atom Willard would be the official replacement for Ron Welty.

[4] According to Nielsen SoundScan, they have sold almost 17 million albums in the United States,[5] of which 15 million are certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The point is that apart from the "Greg situation", I think that they're old news to the market. I think they are facing the same dilemma as most bands who are still active from the 90s...how do they move forward in an industry that is completely different from the one they started in.

After touring and playing festivals in support of the album and twenty years of Smash, single "Coming for You" was released in 2015 and became the band's second Billboard Mainstream Rock number one.

I googled (like every day since December) "Offspring new album".

In April 1994, The Offspring released Smash.

It will come. That album would not be released on CD until 1995.

Days go by was their worst album by far actually. But every time this thing gets delayed again it just kicks me when I’m down. The Offspring kick off a European tour tonight (July 25th) in Helsinki, Finland, and will play a few North American festival dates in September. Does anyone else have any information about this? Two years later, after the release of the Baghdad EP and another demo, the band signed to Epitaph Records (a label owned by then-former and now-current Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz), who released the band's second album, Ignition, in 1992. The bottom line is...most bands of their age are moving forward very cautiously. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the band’s breakthrough album, Smash, which has sold more than 10 million copies and yielded the hits “Come Out and Play”, “Self Esteem”, and more. The Offspring are wrapping up work on their 10th album, according to a new press release from the veteran punk rockers.. I feel Social Distortion does this, too.

The next album, Days Go By, was released four years later; this time, the drum tracks were handled by both Freese and Parada, making this his first recording with the band.

Smash was a critically acclaimed album, also the band's most successful yet. At summer. Formats: CD, LP, cassette, digital download. What is the point?

Have you gone to their gigs lately? And by that, I mean a bit better technically. Interesting how the way you split the albums, as all the ones you called “the offspring” were with Ron Welty, and all the newer ones are without him.

Not to mention rock has been in a major slump for a long damn time. They would say things in interviews like, "It will be out in Fall 2019, for sure!" They do what what a slowing dying band is expected to do: festivals in europe (cheaper to organize, more money to the band), same setlists over and over, no deep cuts.

Well, here we are almost in March of 2020 and not a single word about the new album in over 3 months. Rap has filled that niche and even that isn't as creative as it once was. I'd love a bunch more albums from them, don't get me wrong but I don't mind waiting for something solid versus several lackluster efforts instead. Social D might be even worse when it comes to promoting new albums that take 10 years to come out, haha. Although not as successful as Smash, Ixnay sold over three million copies. Debuting at number four on the Billboard 200, Smash produced three hit singles: "Come Out and Play", "Self Esteem" and "Gotta Get Away". The kind of music they make fits a younger band and becomes a bit cringeworthy when sung by old men.

The difference between the two is Social Distortion plays one or two new songs each time I saw them, unlike the Offspring.

[2] However, under threat of legal action by Columbia through its parent company, Sony, only the first single, "Original Prankster", was released on the website (the rest of the record was leaked to fan sites).[3].
